Cam Slide Series Introduction:

The Stelron “Cam Slide” converts rotational motion from an input shaft to controlled “in line” movement of an end plate(s) attached to linear moving output shafts. Due to the integral construction, it eliminates the need for separate cams, linkages and other devices for producing a movement from a remote source.

The “Cam Slide” consists of two hardened cams mounted on the input shaft, each acting on separate rollers attached to the carriage of the reciprocating assembly. The cams provide positive constraint at all times to the “in line” moving parts. The reciprocating assembly moves on linear ball bearings mounted in a housing which contains all the moving parts. All contact surfaces are hardened and roll on anti-friction bearings to reduce friction and wear to a minimum. The housing is sealed to exclude foreign matter and retain lubricant.

Application:

The Stelron “Cam Slide” may be adapted to any machine motion which requires straight line movement of parts. The unit may be mounted in any position and the input shaft may be driven by means of gear, timing pulley, sprocket, or coupled directly to shaft.

Spring option:

The “Cam Slide” can also be supplied with a spring operated “out” motion. This feature protects tooling in case of jams and interferences. Internal constructional differences are shown on page 10 of the catalog.

Special Strokes/Sequences:

The “Cam slide” is offered in a large variety of  standard movements. However, variations in strokes, sequences and shaft extensions are available at additional cost.

Reversed Sequences:

The various cam angles of “out” dwell and “in” dwell shown in the table on page 3 (of the catalog) may be reversed, as a standard option.

Engineering Data:

The “Cam slide” is produced in five sizes and available in a large variety of standard strokes and sequences. Since anti-friction bearings are used throughout, cam pressure angles, which normally would be considered excessive, are used. However, to avoid undercutting the cams, certain limitations on the cam angles and strokes are shown in the graph on page 3 of the Cam Slide catalog.
