General
DDS Series:
The Stelron DDS Series X-Y Slide adds another dimension to the widely accepted DS & ES Series Anti-Friction Slides.
Employing the same anti-friction elements for low friction and minimum wear, the DDS Series can be adapted to those applications which require accurate positioning or combined translational movement in a plane.
Units in this series ay be obtained with or without lead screws in either or both axes.
Bridging of the end plates permits additional design variations. Squareness of the slide axes with respect to each other is within .001 per 5″ length.
Anti-Friction Slide Introduction:
The Stelron anti-friction slide units incorporate tried and proven linear ball bearings into compact assemblies combining rolling elements for low friction, hardened contact surfaces for long life and minimum wear, with negligible or zero backlash. Long, unrestricted stroked are not a limitation due to the use of re-circulating ball races in the bearing.
Application:
Machine parts or tools which require “in-line” motion can be readily mounted to the Stelron Anti-Friction Slide units either on the surfaces provided at the slide bar end plates, or on the housing when the slide bar ends are fixed, thus permitting the housing to move.
Where translational or incremental movement in a plane with the sensitivity and accuracy of a ball bearing is required, the Stelron X-Y Anti-Friction Slides fulfill a wide range of applications.
Materials:
Shafts are hardened and ground steel. End plates and housings are generally steel except in larger sizes where aluminum is used to reduce weight. With few exceptions, all external surfaces are ground. Housings and end plates have black oxide or anodized surface treatment.
Lubrication & Friction:
Integral oil cups are usually provided for application of light grade oil. The standard use of felt wipers absorbs and distributes the lubricant, excludes most foreign matter and offers less resistance then Neoprene type seals.
The co-efficient of friction for the bearings without wipers is approximately .003.
Clearance:
All standard units have approximately .001 mean clearance between the shaft and bearing bores. Shafts providing a line to line fit can be supplied when specifically requested.
Capacity Ratings:
All standard units have approximately .001 mean clearance between the shaft and bearing bores. Shafts providing a line to line fit can be supplied when specifically requested.
Stroke Lengths:
Due to a large variation in desired stroke requirements, our facilities enable us to provide ANY length BELOW that tabulated for various units — longer lengths incur the additional cost of shaft over and above those tabulated.
